Renaissance

By many accounts, the Renaissance can be seen as the natural extension of the medieval era, but it also saw a resurgence of thoughts, texts and influences from Antiquity, with sweeping changes in art, philosophy and science inspired by humanism, recent innovations and a rediscovery of ancient ideas.

Late Middle Ages

The Late Middle Ages are associated heavily with gothic themes. It was a time of great challenges, and those who could rise from the ashes of these dark times were hardened like steel. Crisis can forge heroes, break ancient norms, and inspire new ideas and amazing creations.

Warriors & Mercenaries

In LARP, a mercenary character will generally look like a battle-hardened veteran. No shiny full plate or fancy armor should be worn, but rather rugged, practical gear that can be worn during long marches.

Description

Created in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED, Calimacil presents the legendary Iris Steel Sword of Olgierd von Everec, from the Heart of Stone expansion of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt: a beautiful saber. The blade is a family heirloom of the von Everecs, but is named in honour of Olgierd’s wife, Iris, who he loved desperately as a young man, and went to great lengths to marry. We chose to replicate this blade because of its beauty and uniqueness in the games.

This detailed saber takes inspiration from historical Polish and Lithuanian blades, and it certainly looks fabulous! The wooden styled hilt and guard feature brass-colored elements and its curved blade gives character to this sword. Single edged swords such as this one were very popular in Eastern Europe across the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, being widely used by cavalry officers, mercenary bands, experienced militiamen, and local military. This weapon is a great choice for any Slavic themed warrior in LARP, for a dangerous noble, or for an adventurer with eastern influences.
