Description

This small square shaped shield is a latex reproduction of the Roman parmula or parma shield. This light infantry shield dating from the early Roman republic continued to be seen long after its military use in the many arenas where gladiators fought during the Roman era. Used by the thraex Thracian gladiator class as well as other quick-footed fighters, it was a shield built for skirmishers and scouts. It was also still marginally used by the imperial legions by signifers, cavalry, auxiliary soldiers, and other standard bearers of the roman military.
